Deadline Day!

A flurry of deadline deals last night. Here's a recap of whats happened in the last 2 days:

Deal 1: The Wizards sent Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson to the Mavericks for Josh Howard, Drew Gooden, Tim Thomas and Quinton Ross.

Deal 2: Blazers send Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw and cash to Clippers for Marcus Camby.

Deal 3:The New York Knicks trade Darko Milicic to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Brian Cardinal

Deal 4: Kings send Kevin Martin, Sergio Rodridguez, Hilton Armstrong and Kenny Thomas to the Rockets for T-Mac, Joey Dorsey and Carl Landry.

Deal 5: To Cleveland: Antawn Jamison and Sebastian Telfair; To Washingto
n: Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Cleveland's 2010 first-round draft pick, the rights to Emir Preldzic, who was selected in the second round of last year's draft, Al Thornton. To the Clippers: Drew Gooden.

Deal 6: (still being worked out apparently): Chicago send John Salmons to Milwaukee. Initially, sources said that the Bulls would get Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson, but the Chicago Tribune reported that they could receive those two or Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander.

Deal 7: (also not yet official): Knicks send Nate Robinson to Boston for Eddie House.

I'm sure a few more are coming down the pipeline before today's 3 p.m. deadline. Will Amare go to the Heat? Will T-Mac be bought out and/or moved to New York? Will the Jazz come to their senses and deal Boozer away before the deadline? Other players rumored to be moved include Kirk Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas, Al Harrington, Troy Murphy, Ray Allen, Andre Iguodala, Samuel Dalembert, Elton Brand, Rip Hamilton and more.

Winners and Losers? Well Dallas is definitely a winner, along with Cleveland. And you gotta love what Houston did. The Clippers, Wizards and Bulls have managed somehow to be able to sign huge free agents now, so I suppose it's a win for them. Not really sure what Sacramento is doing...other than blowing the whole thing up and starting over again with Tyreke Evans.

Anyway, I will try and update this as trades come thru today. Should make for some interesting conversation...

Butler on the Move

So it looks like one of my players is getting moved...Caron Butler is supposedly about to be taking his plastic straw-chewing self to to Dallas. According to Rotoworld, "All signs point to the Wizards soon trading Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson to the Mavericks in exchange for Josh Howard, Drew Gooden, Quinton Ross, and James Singleton."

Note that the trade isnt expected to be completed until after the All-Star game on Sunday. In NBA terms, it's a win for both sides, especially after the Arenas debacle. Washington gets cap space, Dallas gets two starters, blah blah blah. Fantasy-wise, it's probably a loss for Caron (of course), and a gain for Haywood, Howard and Gooden. Hopefully running with Jason Kidd will help out Butler, but he has to share shots with Dirk and Marion. Maybe it is a blessing. Caron is shooting the worst percentage since his second year in the NBA with Miami -- and maybe fewer shots will mean better looks. One can only pray.

This deal makes me wonder who is more valuable right now: Andray Blatche or Drew Gooden? Or are they just destined for a timeshare?

J-J-J-Jerry and the Jazzzz

I figured I would throw something out on Baseball and something out on hoops for my first blogging day. This is a vent.....

Jerry Sloan and the Utah Jazz are the frakking WORST!!! How did you guys not trade Boozer away a MONTH ago? Now, because you are playing well, you think you should keep Boozer and make a playoff run. Meanwhile Paul Millsap wastes away on the bench, playing 18 minutes a night (thanks, Jerry), and the Jazz payed him big $$ to stay in the offseason, hoping Boozer would opt out of his contract year.

Now I dont claim to be a hoops genius -- just a fantasy hoops genius :) So when I drafted Millsap for 5 bucks at the end of my draft, I thought it was a really good pick (although I thought I would get him for 3 bucks, not 5, but someone bid him up). Not only has this guy proven he is a beast every time he gets his minutes; but also he is only $5 and probably my best keeper candidate.

The Jazz proved this week that at full strength they can't even beat the Lakers WITHOUT Kobe. So please, tell me what is the point of keeping Boozer for a "playoff run" when Millsap does basically the same thing without compromising team chemistry?? The Jazz are going to get NOTHING for Boozer (and that includes NBA championships) unless they do a deal in the next 6 days. So do all of us a favor and get moving!

The Tigers and ChiSox definitely did Atlanta a favor -- re:Johnny Damon

Let me start by saying that I am a fan of Johnny Damon. He has been on my fantasy baseball team for two straight years (one of which I was champion and the other I came in 4th place). While he is streaky, he definitely delivered the goods last season (Thank you new Yankee Stadium!)

I live in Atlanta, and the Braves recently made a push for Damon, who, in my opinion, would be a terrible fit with the team. For one, the fence in right at Turner Field is quite a bit further away than Johnny has probably gotten used to lately.

The Braves recently dealt Javier Vazquez away for two good pitching prospects and Melky Cabrera. The Braves already have Nate McLouth and phenom Jason Heyward in the OF. This all makes the desire for Damon questionable from the Braves' standpoint. McLouth can thrive as a leadoff hitter, and he has the speed to do it. Cabrera is a much better fielder that Damon could ever hope to be.

All Damon brings to the table is an "attitude" -- but with Chipper, McCann and some of the other veteran Braves, I'm not sure this is necessary. Plus, I heard that Chipper personally called Damon to "seal the deal" (sound familiar? Ken Griffey last year, anyone?).

In any case, it appears Scott Boras has done his job and created an inter-divisional bidding war for Damon with the ChiSox and the Tigers -- essentially removing the Braves from the equation. All you Braves fans (of which I am assuredly NOT) should be happy.

Welcome to my Blog!

OK folks, I have finally decided to start my own fantasy sports blog, even though I know that maybe 10 people will read it monthly. I plan to discuss fantasy hoops and fantasy baseball, so enjoy!
